Manuel Lobeira, CEO of ACORDE, takes part in the Cátedra Chip Cantabria microcredentials diploma ceremony

ACORDE’s CEO, Manuel Lobeira, took part in the ceremony awarding the microcredential diplomas corresponding to the Master’s studies of Cátedra Chip Cantabria for the 2025-2026 academic year, held at the Assembly Hall of the School of Industrial Engineering and Telecommunications of the University of Cantabria (UC).

The event, in which the 12 participating students received their diplomas, was also attended by the Vice-Rector for University Transformation of the UC, Gabriel Moncalián, and the Director of Cátedra Chip, Eugenio Villar. During the ceremony, the design and features of the experimental chip sent for manufacturing to TSMC last September were presented. The results obtained from this chip will be used to specify the final demonstrator chip, which is being defined together with ACORDE —sponsor of the Chair— and is scheduled to be sent for manufacturing in June 2027.

In his address, Manuel Lobeira highlighted the industrial relevance of microelectronics in the current context, as well as the need for qualified professionals in this field, an area where strong demand for specialised talent is expected in the coming years as the sector consolidates in Europe.
